Today we welcomed our grandparents and families to school to celebrate Grandparents' Day. Our grandparents are a special part of our families. They care for us, love us and are important teachers in the ways of life and the ways of faith.
Once again beautiful singing from our school choir and super readings. And as a special treat for St. Brigid's Day on Friday, we watched a wonderful video dramatising the story of St. Brigid starring Primary 2. Well done everyone!
Today is Grandparents’ Day and our school community celebrates and pays tribute to grandparents and the role they play in handing on the faith to their grandchildren and in supporting the community of faith at home and in the parish. They bring joy to the lives of their grandchildren and in turn grandchildren can bring real joy to them.
Our grandparents are a special gift in our lives. They watch over us as we grow and are often some of the most important teachers in our lives. They teach us about our common home, which they have been watching over and caring for long before we were here to help! They have seen and experienced many changes in our world, both good and bad.
We thank you Lord for our grandparents, help us to be thankful for all they teach us.
Well done to our quiz team who took 3rd place in the Causeway Coast and Glens Heat of NI Primary School Road Safety Quiz 2019 held at the Lodge Hotel in Coleraine this morning.
Well done to all the teams who took part and congratulations to Portstewart Primary and Rasharkin Primary who go through to the NI finals. Thanks to the organisers of a super event promoting road safety awareness. 😃🚶♂️🚶♀️🚗🚕🚲
This year’s theme for Catholic Schools Week is Catholic Schools: Celebrating the Work of Our Local Catholic Schools.
Each Catholic school shares an ethos that is inclusive, welcoming and vibrant. Each school works towards a vision of each student as made in the likeness and image of God (imago Dei). This means that we work towards helping each child, irrespective of background, ethnicity or creed, reach their full potential academically, spiritually and socially. To be in the likeness and image of God means that we have the capacity to truly care for ourselves, each other and the environment around us.
This week we will reflect and celebrate the unique contribution and work of your own Catholic school.
Our Primary 7 class had a great day with Portstewart Primary at Belfast Botanic Gardens as part of our Rolls Royce Eden Award Prize for our ‘Marvellous Movers’ Project. Three super workshops... Rainforest Feasts and Edible Plants in the Tropical Ravine and a digital botanical workshop in the Ulster Museum ... all designed to enrich the children’s knowledge of and interest in the living world through hands on and digital experiences.
A huge thank you to Cailín Lynn and her team at Belfast Botanic Gardens, and to Rani Gill, Project Manager for the Rolls-Royce Science Prize, who travelled from Derby to share our day.
What? You haven’t heard about 'Marvellous Movers'? Well, over 460 pupils, from our two Portstewart schools, designed and made their own vehicles from recycled materials and powered them with renewable energy. We won the Eden Award and were Runners-up in the Rolls-Royce Science Prize. 😃🌱
