• SUSTRANS BIG PEDAL

  What a great week of active travel to school last week! On Friday, 84% of our pupils actively travelled to school. Brilliant! Well done everyone!! Thanks so much everyone for making the effort to travel actively to school. We're looking forward to Week 2 of the big Pedal Challenge starting tomorrow. 

   

  Our walking buses will run each morning, leaving Manina and the Warren at 8:40am. Please help to reduce congestion in front of the school by using Convention Avenue Car Park and 'striding' the short distance to school.

  
  Lets see if we can continue to increase our active travel journeys this week.

  What a great night at our Table Quiz at the The Port Hotel. A huge thank you to everyone who came along. We raised £523 towards PTA funds.

• WOW! 91% OF OUR PUPILS ARE ACTIVE TRAVELLERS!

  WOW!! 91% of our pupils walked, cycled or scooted to school today! Amazing effort!

   

  Thanks to all our active travellers. Let's see if we can get this percentage even higher on the last day of our first week in the Big Pedal Challenge.

  Results after DAY 3 of the SUSTRANS Big Pedal... we're in 8th position in our region. FANTASTIC EFFORT EVERYONE! Well done to all our active travellers to school.

  WOW!! We're chuffed to be in the top 10 schools in the region in the SUSTRANS Big Pedal after the first set of results were collated.

  What a lovely morning for the start of our SUSTRANS BIG PEDAL. WELL DONE to everyone who walked, cycled or scooted to school. 78% of our pupils actively travelled to school today! 

  
  Our walking buses will run each morning over the two week period, leaving Manina and the Warren at 8:40am.

• SUSTRANS BIG PEDAL STARTS MONDAY 25TH MARCH

  This year our school is participating for the first time in the SUSTRANS BIG PEDAL. We are asking all children to take part in this challenge over a 2 week period… starting on Monday 25^th March. 

   

  How it works

  On each day of the challenge schools compete to see who can record the greatest number of pupils, staff and parents cycling, walking, scooting or using a wheelchair to school. A school’s best five days will determine their final position and schools at the top of their leaderboards will receive an exclusive Sustrans Big Pedal Trophy.

   

  Prizes

  All schools will be entered into daily prize draws for rewards if over 15% of the school cycles, walks or scoots on each day of the challenge. Prizes up for grabs include accessories and equipment to help us travel actively to school.

   

  This is a fantastic opportunity for our school to continue working towards becoming more environmentally sustainable by reducing carbon emissions caused by traffic and is a positive step towards reducing car congestion around the school. It is also a healthy and sociable option for our pupils. We will also be using the challenge as a means of achieving our second Eco-Schools Green Flag award.

   

  Our walking buses will run each morning over the two week period, leaving Manina and the Warren at 8:40am.  Walking from the carpark in Convention Avenue to school(park & stride) will also count as an active journey to school.

   

  We are looking forward to 2 great weeks of active school travel.
