  • ANTI BULLYING WEEK - ODD SOCKS DAY, MONDAY 16TH NOVEMBER

    Fri 13 Nov 2020

    Next week is Anti-Bullying Week

The theme for Anti-Bullying Week 2020 is: United Against Bullying. The children will be participating in a number of activities throughout the week to promote the message of anti-bullying.

This year we invite all our children to wear odd socks on Monday 16th November to celebrate our individuality and what makes us unique.

We have set up a donation payment on School Money where parents can log on and make a donation on their child/children’s behalf. Funding raised will support the “Anti-Bullying Alliance”, a charitable organization who distribute resources for the use of all schools during Anti-Bullying week.

  • CASH FOR CLOBBER COLLECTION, WEDNESDAY 18TH NOVEMBER

    Thu 12 Nov 2020

Help us recycle and raise funds for

    our school!

     Cash for Clobber Collection

    Wednesday 18th November

This year we are again taking part in the Cash for Clobber Competition as we continue our work on the Eco-Schools Program. The Cash for Clobber scheme is aimed at raising awareness of textile recycling among children and to show how essential it is for everyone in the ‘developed world’ to reduce, reuse and recycle and is also a great way of raising funds for our school. Schools which collect the most textiles per pupil are in with a chance to win the annual ‘Cash for Clobber’ competition with fantastic prizes of up to £1,000 for schools who collect the most clobber.

Our next collection is on Wednesday 18th November. Arrangements are a little different this year and we would ask that bags of clean, unwanted textiles are brought to school on Wednesday at drop off time and passed ‘over the wall’ to staff for storage in our Car Park until collection time. Please observe social distancing guidelines.

Cookstown Textile Recyclers, one of the Eco-school program partners, who will sort and recycle. Low grade material is used for industrial wipers and fillings, good quality clothes are re-used in the developing world.

Why not have a autumn clear out of old and unwanted items? Please encourage family and friends to donate their unwanted textiles too.

What can you put in the bag??

    • All types of clothing (even with holes or broken zips)
    • Bags and shoes (please tie shoes together with laces)
    • Hats and belts
    • Towels and curtains
    • Bed linen (sheets, pillow cases, duvet covers)
    • Remember NO QUILTS OR PILLOWS and ALL ITEMS MUST BE CLEAN..

Many thanks for your continued support.

Tea towels will be available to purchase through the Shop on SchoolMoney. In order to avoid under/over ordering, please email the PTA at stcolumspta@hotmail.co.uk with the number of teatowels you wish to order.
