We are holding our annual Christmas Fair on Sunday 2nd December. The event will run from 4-6pm in Star of the Sea Parish Centre.
As well as craft stalls, we will have a cake stall, tombola, face painting, nail art, glitter tattoos, Throttle a Bottle, arts and crafts, lucky dip, games and refreshments. We also hear that we may have a special visitor in a red suit! Admission is £3 for adults and accompanied children are free. Everyone is very welcome.
In order to make this event a success, we need donations for some of our stalls…
Please leave donations in the School or Pre-School Centre by Thursday 29th November.
Donations of baked goods for our cake stall would also be greatly appreciated. For example, buns, cakes, tray-bakes, apple/rhubarb tarts, wheaten bread, scones etc. Home-made items only please as ‘shop bought’ do not sell. Please enlist help from any bakers you may know.
On the day, we also need some help to man stalls and games and tidying up after the fair. If you are available to help, even for a short time, please contact the PTA… stcolumspta@hotmail.co.uk or contact a member of the Fair Sub-Committee (Olivia McLaughlin, Angela Cassidy, Ria Carey,Ita Harley, Linda Mulholland, Daniel Turner) ... or leave your name and contact number with the school office… t:02870833010 or Pre-School Centre… t:02870835737.
We really appreciate your support.
We are looking forward to a fun-filled festive afternoon.

As part of our on-going collaboration with Action Mental Health, Primaries 5, 6 and 7 pupils have been invited to Movie House Cinemas, Coleraine on Wednesday 21st November to attend a screening of the film 'Wonder' followed by a short workshop.
The workshop will explore the importance of learning to see the world through other people's eyes and how we should always strive to choose kindness. We are really looking forward to raising our pupils' awareness of positive mental health, the signs and symptoms of mental distress and how to cope with the various challenges that may arise in our lives.
The workshop will reinforce the work we have been doing during Anti-Bullying Week on the theme Respect.
It's Anti-Bullying Week NI!
Under this year’s theme of ‘RESPECT, we will think about what respect means to us, what it feels like to be respected and how to show respect to others. We will explore how respect for others can build an anti-bullying culture in our school and community.

Energy Saving Week 2018 is taking place in Northern Ireland from Monday 5th to Friday 9th November 2018. The Energy Saving Trust, alongside the Housing Executive and a range of other stakeholders are promoting Energy Saving Week and have invited our school to take part in an energy saving challenge.
They are asking pupils to carry out four simple energy saving activities at home, tick off the boxes of the activities they have completed on the challenge sheet and return the forms to school on Friday.
We will then total up the number of pupils who have completed each activity and submit our results to the Energy Saving Trust who can then issue our school with a certificate stating how much Carbon Dioxide our pupils have managed to save throughout Energy Saving Week.
Energy Saving Week is a great way to get us all thinking about how we can save energy and to show us all how simple changes can make a big impact on the environment.
We hope you enjoy The Challenge!
