  • SUSTRANS BIG PEDAL STARTS MONDAY 25TH MARCH

    Thu 21 Mar 2019

This year our school is participating for the first time in the SUSTRANS BIG PEDAL. We are asking all children to take part in this challenge over a 2 week period… starting on Monday 25th March

    How it works

On each day of the challenge schools compete to see who can record the greatest number of pupils, staff and parents cycling, walking, scooting or using a wheelchair to school. A school’s best five days will determine their final position and schools at the top of their leaderboards will receive an exclusive Sustrans Big Pedal Trophy.

    Prizes

All schools will be entered into daily prize draws for rewards if over 15% of the school cycles, walks or scoots on each day of the challenge. Prizes up for grabs include accessories and equipment to help us travel actively to school.

This is a fantastic opportunity for our school to continue working towards becoming more environmentally sustainable by reducing carbon emissions caused by traffic and is a positive step towards reducing car congestion around the school. It is also a healthy and sociable option for our pupils. We will also be using the challenge as a means of achieving our second Eco-Schools Green Flag award.

Our walking buses will run each morning over the two week period, leaving Manina and the Warren at 8:40am.  Walking from the carpark in Convention Avenue to school(park & stride) will also count as an active journey to school.

We are looking forward to 2 great weeks of active school travel.

    Many thanks for your support.

  • PRIMARY 4 IN THE 1950s

    Thu 14 Mar 2019

Primary 4 travelled back in time today to spend their school day in the 1950s.  What a very different day... writing with ink pens, lunches wrapped up in paper, milk in glass bottles and jiving! Great fun!

  • WORLD BOOK DAY CELEBRATIONS!

    Sun 10 Mar 2019

On Friday, we celebrated World Book Day in style as we dressed up to bring our favourite book characters to life .... even the staff! Primary 6 led a whole school assembly, followed by a parade and everyone had the opportunity to introduce their character.

Lots of literacy fun all day… writing about our favourite characters, reading,  listening to stories,  sharing our favourite stories. What a fantastic celebration of books!

Well done to everyone for putting so much effort into their costumes... they were all FAB-U-LOUS! ... and to everyone who brought in super photos for our ‘Get Caught Reading’ competition.

A huge thank you to all the parents and grandparents who visited us to ‘Share a Story’ and a special thanks to our Literacy Co-ordinator, Miss McGoldrick, for organising such a brilliant day!
